Review: It is currently 9.30am and already 30 degrees outside in Australia, so today seems like the perfect day to test out this product!
I was a little apprehensive about using the Axilla deodorant pasta as I have never used a deodorant paste before. I always seem to wind up using the all-too-common deodorant in a can, which l know isn’t very good for your skin or the environment, especially considering a lot of the big name cosmetic brands still test on animals.
All the ingredients in the Axilla paste are natural and organic, which is especially important considering the skin in your arm pits is particularly delicate and sensitive. No one wants an unsightly and uncomfortable rash under their arms!
I am prone to perspiring quite a lot especially on hot days and in certain social situations but so far the deodorant paste has done its job perfectly. I love it. It smells beautifully natural and my underarms feel smooth and non-sticky. I sometimes find with spray deodorants that it is all too easy to put too much on, leaving an unwelcome, sticky residue under your arms. The Black Chicken deodorant paste is essentially the complete opposite – from the moment I applied it to my skin it was completely invisible. Also due to the nature of the paste, you must apply it with your finger so you can put on just the right amount!
The little pot it is in is super cute and small enough to fit in your pocket! You could easily take it with you while you go about your day to day routine, and re-apply whenever necessary! I would recommend this product to absolutely anyone, especially those who haven’t yet had the luxury of trying out a natural deodorant. I have seen the light! I will be sure to give an update on how this product is fairing later today, as the temperature is only going to rise.
Update: it is now 11.30am and now 32 degrees and the deodorant paste is doing its job perfectly! I actually cannot fault it.
Update: 2:36pm and we have reached peak temperature for the day at 36 degress (I’m melting…) but the Axilla is standing up to the test! I don’t think there is a better organic deodorant that is this effective for temperatures and climates like we have in Australia and the more I try these Black Chicken products the more I like how small and handbag friendly they are! Rather than hearing the clinky noises of a deodorant can, I can even stash this bad boy in my wallet!

- Water (Aqua),
- Prunus Amygdalus Dulcis (Sweet Almond) Oil
- Glyceryl Stearate SE*
- Prunus Domestica seed oil*
- Xanthan Gum*
- Lactic Acid*
Review: White creamy consistency that feels silky smooth on your skin, slight almond smell. Works well to clean skin, but doesn't remove all make up. Skin is left feeling fresh and clean, not tight or irritated. It does contain Lactic acid, but in a very small quantity so didn't irritate my sensitive skin.
*Glyceryl Stearate SE - Is a compound of glycerin and stearic acid, an saturated fatty acid, contains sodium and potassium. It serves as an emulsifier and is used to soften and smooth the skin.
*Alcohol is derived through the fermentation of starch, sugar and other carbohydrates. It can be used to extract and preserve botanicals. Weleda uses organic grain alcohol cultivated in Italy
*Prunus Domestica seed oil - Commonly referred to as Plum Kernel Oil, this oil is pressed from the kernels of the Plum fruit. This oil belongs to the same family as the Almond. It is rich in antioxidants, unsaturated fatty acids and Vitamin E. The flavor of Plum Kernel Oil closely resembles that of Marzipan (Almond Paste).
*Xanthan Gum - This fermented byproduct of the microorganism, Xanthomonas Campestris, yields a fibrous gel similar to cellulose. It is very stable under a wide range of temperatures and pH levels. This gum agent serves as a stabilizer and emulsifier, as well as a foam enhancer and thickener.
*Lactic Acid -This naturally occurring substance is created from the splitting of carbohydrates through the milk-sour fermentation process. As a result, it is different from the Lactose found in milk. Lactic Acid is a key component of the hydro-lipid film that balances the natural moisture levels of the skin, and it is a natural byproduct of the body’s metabolic activities as we breakdown glucose. It improves and balance’s the skin’s moisture content, nourishes fine, dry skin and prevents against the formation of wrinkles. It does not serve as an allergy concern for those that are lactose intolerant, as milk proteins are not contained in Lactic Acid.
